First advice for most Americans!!!!!
If you will be working in the Marignane area and its your first time to France or the south of France i highly recommend staying in these to places:
1) Aix-en-Provence
2) Marseille
Reasons:
Living in big (bigger) cities like Aix or Marseille will allow an american to adjust to the french life style a bit easier. Plus if you are young and single you definitively want to live in Aix as the night life is booming there and its has a high population of university students. Marseille is also a choice but you have to be picky where you decide to live. Yes its a big city but its a dirty city so be prepared for that. And the general public is not much better. If you want high class people again go to Aix if you want a big city feel next to the beach (not like Miami) go to Marseille.
But then again you could go to Marignane (this is for the more experienced traveler or maybe for a family or tranquil beach type of guy)
